The experience
The tour opens at the National Parliament Building, designed by architect Louis Kahn. You'll see the exterior from the car, since interior access requires special permission from authorities. From there the route moves through Shahbagh Flower Market, where vendors line the streets with fresh roses, marigolds, and tuberoses straight from village farms, then to Curzon Hall, the British Raj-era building that now houses the University of Dhaka's Faculty of Sciences. The building was named after Lord Curzon, the Viceroy of India, who laid its foundation stone in 1904.
Lalbagh Fort, built in 1678 by Prince Muhammad Azam, holds three main sections: the Diwan-i-Aam (a public gathering hall), the Tomb of Pari Bibi, and the Lalbag Mosque. The Bangladesh National Museum offers extensive exhibits covering archaeology, art, ethnography, and natural history: a comprehensive look at the country's heritage. Dhakeshwari Temple, situated in old Dhaka, serves as the national Hindu temple of Bangladesh. Shaheed Minar, the language martyrs' memorial, closes the route. It marks the 1952 movement for Bangla language rights and holds deep significance in Bangladesh's history.
An English-speaking guide leads the tour in an air-conditioned car with pickup from your hotel and drop-off included. All entry tickets and parking are covered. The itinerary adjusts for closures: the National Museum shuts on Thursdays, and Lalbagh Fort closes on Sundays, so bookings on those days skip those stops.
