The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your location anywhere in Bahrain and heads to Al Fateh Grand Mosque, where a guide walks you through the kingdom's largest mosque. You can try on traditional Bahraini clothes in the fitting room before moving to the National Museum, which holds drawings, artifacts and displays spanning more than 3000 years of Bahraini history, culture and handicrafts. The museum closes Mondays.

Bahrain Fort is the centerpiece: an archaeological mound 12 meters high built up over centuries, with seven distinct layers of occupation from the Dilmun civilization (2300 BC) through the 18th century. You walk the site with your guide, who explains the excavations that have uncovered the fort's layers since 1954. A photo stop and a guided walk through Manama's traditional souk, including Bab AlBahrain, round out the itinerary.
