The experience

You start at Ashabi Kahf, a refuge carved into a natural cave on the eastern edge of Nakhchivan town. The name means "the owners of the cave" in Arabic, and the site appears in the 18th surah of the Qur'an. From there, the route moves to Khanegah Tomb, located near Alinja, where two mausoleums stand side by side: one dating to the 15th century, built from burned brick in a 20-by-20-meter footprint with a distinctive muqarnas-shaped pendentive.

The final stop is Alinja Castle, a 14th-century Azerbaijani fortress perched on top of Alinja Mountain on the right bank of the Alinja River, west of the village of Khanega. The castle grounds include a museum displaying equipment and artifacts from that era. Your guide handles the route and explains each site. Lunch breaks the day, and all museum tickets and entry fees are covered in the booking.
