The transfer starts from your location in Baku and runs eight to nine hours to your destination in Tbilisi. Your Azerbaijani driver handles the first leg, taking you through the mountain towns and valleys of northern Azerbaijan (Shamakhy, Ismailly, Gabala, Sheki, Zaqatala and Balakan) before dropping you at the Lagodekhi border crossing. You then walk through the border checkpoint yourself. On the Georgian side, a driver holding a placard meets you and drives you to any address in Tbilisi. Foreign citizens do not need special permission to travel from Azerbaijan to Georgia, so the border crossing is a standard entry procedure.
The vehicle is private and air-conditioned, and your driver speaks Russian. Some drivers also speak basic English. You can request pickup from any point in Baku and drop-off at any point in Tbilisi, so the route adapts to where you're staying. If you're traveling with children under 10 or hold a COVID passport, a PCR test is not required. Service animals are allowed, and specialized infant seats are available on request. Customer care is available 24/7 if you need to adjust timing or have questions during the drive.
Choose between a vehicle for one to three passengers or one for four to seven, depending on your group size. Both options include fuel and the two-driver handoff at the border. The transfer works best if you're moving between the two cities without a rental car and want to see the route rather than fly.

Top questions
What happens at the Lagodekhi border crossing?
Your Azerbaijani driver drops you at the border, and you walk through the checkpoint yourself as a foreign citizen: no special permits are needed. Once you clear Georgian immigration, a Georgian driver with a placard meets you on the other side and takes you to your Tbilisi address.
Can I be picked up from my hotel in Baku and dropped at my hotel in Tbilisi?
Yes. The transfer operates from any point in Baku to any point in Tbilisi, so you can arrange pickup and drop-off at your specific addresses rather than a central station.
What route does the car take through Azerbaijan?
The journey passes through Shamakhy, Ismailly, Gabala, Sheki, Zaqatala and Balakan before reaching the border at Lagodekhi. This northern route shows the landscape and towns of Azerbaijan's mountain region.
Do I need a visa or special documents to cross from Azerbaijan to Georgia?
Foreign citizens do not need permission to leave Azerbaijan for Georgia. You'll go through standard border immigration on the Georgian side. Bring your passport. If you have a COVID passport or are traveling with children under 10, a PCR test is not required.
What if I'm traveling with a baby or small child?
Specialized infant seats are available on request, so let the operator know when you book. Service animals are also allowed on the transfer.
