The experience
You arrive at the mountain restaurant atop Dorfbahn and hike ten minutes to Königsleitenspitze. The three cable ways that normally reach the summit don't operate in summer, so the walk is how you get there. Once at the top, the pilot spends about fifteen minutes fitting you into the tandem harness, checking the wing and walking through what happens next. You'll hold the GoPro during the run-up so the camera catches the moment you leave the ground: a few seconds of sprinting before the wing fills and you lift off.
The flight itself runs twenty minutes. The pilot controls everything (thermals, turns, descent), while you sit in front and watch the Alps roll beneath you. The silence is the thing people mention: no engine, no rotor noise, just wind and the sound of the wing. Once you're airborne and settled, you can choose to extend the flight and stay up longer, doubling your time in the air if the conditions and your mood both say yes. Fear of heights isn't a barrier. The pilot has flown hundreds of tandem flights and handles the whole experience. Anybody from twenty kilograms (a small child) to 130 kilograms can fly.
After landing, a taxi takes you back to the cableway station. The whole outing runs about ninety minutes from start to finish. You'll need to arrange your own transport to Dorfbahn and the mountain restaurant. Public transportation options are available nearby. The mountain ticket for the cableway itself is not included in the price, so budget for that separately if you're coming from the valley.
What’s included
- Full tandem paragliding gear and helmet.
- GoPro camera during takeoff so you capture your own footage.
