The experience
The transfer picks you up wherever you're staying in Salzburg at the time you choose, then takes you straight to your hotel, apartment or any address in Vienna. Along the way, you can stop at one sightseeing place for up to two hours if you want to break the drive, or skip it and arrive faster. The six sightseeing options the operator lists are Sankt Gilgen, Hallstatt, Mauthausen Concentration Camp, Melk, Dürnstein and Kreuzenstein. Each one sits on or near the route between the two cities, so adding a stop doesn't mean backtracking. The driver is a local who speaks English and can point out what's worth seeing, though he's not a licensed tour guide. He's there to get you safely to Vienna and share what he knows about the area along the way.
The vehicle depends on your group size: a sedan for one to three passengers, an MPV for four, a large van for five to seven, or a combination of vehicles for larger parties. Luggage space scales with the vehicle. A sedan takes three suitcases plus cabin bags, a van takes up to seven. Bottled water is on board, and the car is air-conditioned. If you want more than one sightseeing stop or longer time at a stop, you can ask the operator about that when you book. Entrance fees to any attractions are not included and must be paid on site or booked online separately.
This is a one-way transfer, not a tour: the driver's job is to move you and your luggage from Salzburg to Vienna, with the option to pause somewhere in between. Hotel or airport pickup in Salzburg is included, as is drop-off at your chosen location in Vienna. You're not on a schedule with other passengers or a fixed itinerary. You set the departure time and the stop, if any.

Top questions
Can I stop somewhere between Salzburg and Vienna on this transfer?
Yes, you can choose one sightseeing stop for up to two hours. The operator offers six options: Sankt Gilgen, Hallstatt, Mauthausen Concentration Camp, Melk, Dürnstein and Kreuzenstein. You decide whether to stop and which place, or you can skip the stop and travel straight through to Vienna.
What is Hallstatt like if I choose to stop there?
Hallstatt is a small lakeside village in the Salzkammergut region, famous for its Alpine scenery and historic salt mining heritage. It sits on the route between Salzburg and Vienna, so it's a natural pause point. The village has shops, cafes and walking paths along the lake. You'll have two hours to explore on your own.
Do I need to book the sightseeing stop in advance, or can I decide when I arrive?
You choose your sightseeing stop when you book the transfer. If you want to add a stop or change your choice after booking, contact the operator to see if it's possible and whether any adjustment to the price applies.
Is the driver a tour guide who will explain things at the sightseeing stop?
The driver is a professional local driver who speaks English and knows the area, but he is not a licensed tour guide. He can share insights about the region and local culture during the drive and at any stop you choose, but he won't lead a formal tour. If you want guided commentary at a sightseeing site, you would need to arrange that separately.
What if my group is larger than three people? How does the vehicle change?
The vehicle size depends on your group. One to three passengers travel in a sedan; four passengers get an MPV; five to seven travel in a large van; eight to ten need a large van plus a sedan; eleven to fourteen require two large vans. Luggage space increases with the vehicle size, so a van holds more suitcases than a sedan.
Are entrance fees to attractions included in the transfer price?
No, entrance fees are not included. If you choose to visit an attraction at your sightseeing stop (such as Hallstatt's museums or Mauthausen), you pay the entrance fee on site or book it online in advance. The transfer price covers only the transport and the driver's time.
