The experience

The minivan pulls up to your hotel at 9 a.m. and you settle into a Mercedes or BMW. Just you, your group, and a guide who knows the Salzkammergut lake district the way locals do. By late morning you're in Hallstatt, and it hits different when you arrive by private car instead of the tour bus convoy. The drive back to Salzburg takes the late afternoon.
