Tandem Skydive Mission Beach from Cairns: 15,000ft jump
Mission Beach gives you the highest jump in Australia and a sand landing most drop zones can't match.
A tandem skydive from up to 15,000 feet over Mission Beach, departing from Cairns with daily return transfers included. You'll freefall with views of the Great Barrier Reef, tropical islands and World Heritage rainforest, then land on the beach itself. The jump takes around two hours total, and you can choose transfers from Cairns or Mission Beach depending on where you're staying.
The experience
Mission Beach holds Australia's highest skydive altitude and a drop zone positioned steps from the beach. A landing most skydiving locations can't offer. You'll jump tandem with an experienced instructor, which means no training or solo certification needed. The freefall gives you unobstructed views of the Great Barrier Reef, Dunk Island and the rainforest canopy below. Weather permitting, you'll touch down on the sand itself rather than a landing field, which is the signature finish of this location.
The whole experience runs about two hours from start to landing. Daily complimentary transfers connect you between Cairns and Mission Beach, removing the logistics of getting to the drop zone. You can pick the option that suits your accommodation: transfers from Cairns if you're staying there, or local Mission Beach transfers if you're based closer to the beach. The drop zone sits in the heart of Mission Beach near cafés and bars, so the celebration after your jump is built into the location.
You'll need to be at least 16 years old (with written parental consent if under 18), wear comfortable clothes and enclosed running shoes, and be in reasonable health: the operator screens for spinal injuries, pregnancy and cardiovascular conditions. A surcharge applies if you weigh over 207 pounds. The maximum weight limit is 242 pounds and requires operator approval. Video and photo packages are available to purchase at the dropzone if you want a record of the jump.
