The experience

Clive, your guide, has been visiting Hunter Valley since the mid-eighties and owns a property in Lovedale. He knows the cellar doors, the vineyard layouts and the winemakers, and he builds each tour around what you actually want to see. You can arrive with a list of wineries, hand him a style of wine you're curious about, or simply say you want to be surprised. There's no preset route, no group of strangers, and no pressure to follow someone else's pace.

The tour covers 6 to 7 hours in a private, air-conditioned vehicle with bottled water provided. You'll visit your chosen cellar doors, see the valley's landscape, and taste wines, though tasting fees (if the winery charges them) come separately and Clive will tell you what to expect before the day starts. A lunch break of 90 to 120 minutes is built in. You can pick the restaurant or ask Clive for a recommendation.

The group stays at four people maximum, so it's built for couples or small families traveling together. Because the tour is private, you're never waiting for other groups or adjusting to someone else's interests.

You can plan the stops in advance or let Clive take you to his favorites. The tour is completely tailored to what you want. If you arrive without a preference, he'll suggest cellar doors and vineyard views based on what you're interested in tasting.
