If you want to try stand up paddleboarding in Noosa—even if you’ve never set foot on a board—this group lesson is an easy way in. You’ll get hands-on coaching from a local guide, all your gear sorted, and plenty of time to explore the river at your own pace. It’s friendly, relaxed, and open to all ages.
Sunlight bounced off the water as we gathered by the riverbank in Noosaville—barefoot, a bit nervous, but mostly excited. Our guide, Mick, had this easygoing way of explaining things. He showed us how to hold the paddle and where to stand on the board right there on the grass. I remember the faint smell of sunscreen and coffee drifting over from a nearby café—classic Noosa morning.
Once we got onto the water, it was surprisingly calm. The river’s gentle current made it easier than I’d expected to find my balance (though I did wobble a bit at first). Mick paddled alongside us, calling out tips and quietly correcting our strokes. There were pelicans gliding past and kids laughing from a jetty nearby. After about ten minutes, I started to relax and actually enjoy gliding along—felt pretty good to be upright! The hour went quickly; by the end, even the most hesitant in our group were paddling confidently downriver.
Absolutely! The lesson starts on land with clear instructions before heading onto calm water. Our guides make sure everyone feels comfortable before you paddle off.
Yes—children are welcome as long as they’re accompanied by an adult. We often see families joining together.
You’ll want swimwear or clothes you don’t mind getting wet, sunscreen, and maybe a towel for afterwards. All boards and paddles are provided.
The session is designed for all fitness levels. You can take breaks whenever you need; there’s no rush or pressure.
Your group lesson includes instruction from a local guide, use of paddleboard and paddle for an hour after your lesson, plus GST is covered too. Just bring yourself and some sun protection!
