Mornington Peninsula Hot Springs Day Trip from Melbourne
The pools here are filled with naturally flowing thermal mineral water, not heated artificially.
A full-day activity from Melbourne to the Mornington Peninsula Hot Springs, where you soak in naturally heated mineral pools and relax across over 70 bathing experiences inside the Bath House. Transport from Melbourne, entry to the hot springs, and a local guide are included. The site sits 90 minutes south of the city and operates as Victoria's first natural hot springs day spa centre.
The Experience
The Mornington Peninsula Hot Springs sits 90 minutes south of Melbourne, and the day starts with pickup from your Melbourne hotel or a central meeting point. A local driver guide handles the route while you settle in for the drive down the peninsula. Once you arrive, you have the full day to move between the Bath House's 70 different bathing experiences — thermal pools filled with naturally flowing mineral water, private baths, and soaking areas designed for different temperatures and purposes. The pools and facilities are built around the mineral-rich waters that rise naturally from below, and the Bath House itself is designed so you can drift between experiences without rushing.
The Bath House has areas suited to guests of all ages, though children under 4 are not really suitable for the experience. You'll need a swimsuit for the bathing areas; rash vests and boardshorts are acceptable. Two cafes operate on-site — the Bath House café and the Bath House Amphitheatre café — where you can buy lunch and snacks, or you can bring your own food and use the picnic areas provided. Towel and locker hire are available at reception for a fee. The day is unstructured around the pools themselves, so you set your own pace between the different bathing zones and can rest as long as you want in any of them.
The return journey to Melbourne is included, and the full day runs about 6.5 hours from pickup to drop-off. Your guide speaks English and can answer questions about the site and the mineral waters, but the focus is on your own relaxation rather than a guided tour of the pools. If you want additional spa treatments beyond the bathing experiences — massages, facials or other wellness services — those can be booked directly with the Peninsula Hot Springs at checkout or on arrival.

Is this one for you?Your guide speaks English, so you can follow any commentary about the site and the mineral waters comfortably. How long do I spend actually at the hot springs, and how much time is spent traveling?
The full day is 6.5 hours from pickup to drop-off. The drive from Melbourne takes 90 minutes each way, leaving you several hours to spend soaking and moving between the different bathing experiences at your own pace.
Can I bring my own food, or do I need to buy lunch at the hot springs?
You can bring your own food — picnic areas are provided at the Peninsula Hot Springs. Alternatively, two cafes on-site (the Bath House café and the Bath House Amphitheatre café) sell lunches and light snacks if you prefer to buy there.
What do I need to bring or wear for the bathing?
You'll need a swimsuit for the Bath House bathing areas; rash vests and boardshorts are also acceptable. Towels and lockers are available at reception for a fee. Bring any personal toiletries or sunscreen you want, as the site is a day spa rather than an all-inclusive resort.
Is this suitable for children?
The Bath House has areas designed for guests of all ages, and children are welcome when accompanied by an adult. However, children under 4 years old are not really suitable for the experience, as the focus is on extended soaking and relaxation in the thermal pools.
Can I book spa treatments like massages or facials as part of this day trip?
Additional spa and wellness treatments beyond the bathing experiences can be booked directly with the Peninsula Hot Springs — either at checkout when you book this trip or once you arrive on the day.
