The Experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel and a transfer to the Skyrail terminal. You board a gondola that rises above the rainforest canopy, stopping at Red Peak and Barron Gorge stations to walk among the trees and see Barron Falls. From there, a shuttle takes you to Rainforestation Nature Park, where the bulk of the day unfolds across four separate experiences. An Army Duck—an amphibious vehicle—carries you into the rainforest and a tropical fruit orchard, with your guide pointing out the plants and animals as you move through both land and water. The Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience happens in a rainforest amphitheatre, where you watch traditional dancers perform, then join a Dreamtime Walk to learn boomerang and spear throwing and hear didgeridoo playing. The Koala & Wildlife Park is a guided tour where you see crocodiles, snakes, dingoes, a cassowary, and hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies; photos holding a koala are available for an extra cost.

Lunch is a hot buffet with salads, cheeses and fruit, served at the park. By mid-afternoon, you board the Kuranda Scenic Railway for the return journey to Cairns, traveling through the rainforest on a heritage line. Once you arrive, a free shuttle takes you to Kuranda's markets if you want to browse before heading back to your accommodation. The whole day runs about 10 hours from pickup to drop-off.
