You start with dinner in the fully licensed restaurant onsite, where a $30 per person gift certificate lets you choose from the menu. The homestead's bluestone architecture and manicured gardens set the scene before the sun goes down.

Once darkness falls, the ghost tour begins on the front porch overlooking the garden. Your guide leads you through the property's most unsettling corners: the haunted lake, the eerie stables, the abandoned meat room, the servants quarters, and what the operator calls the "dark and dangerous nooks and crannies" where the Staughton family's obsessions, betrayals and violent history still seem to linger.
