This is a full-day, land-based snorkel in Exmouth's Ningaloo Marine Park, where you wade into the water from the beach at two sites—Turquoise Bay and either Oyster Stacks or Lakeside, chosen by your guide based on tide and weather. You get snorkeling equipment, morning tea and a picnic lunch on the beach, plus photos taken by the guide throughout the day. Pickup and drop-off from your accommodation are included. Children from age 8 are welcome.
The Experience
The snorkel happens on foot: you walk off the beach into the water at Turquoise Bay, then at a second site your guide picks based on the conditions that day. This is different from boat or kayak entry—you're walking straight in from the sand, which means no extra transfer and no waiting to board. Your guide points out the coral formations and the fish moving through them, and explains how the reef ecosystem holds together. The two sites give you different stretches of the marine park in a single day.
The day runs seven hours from pickup at your accommodation. Morning tea happens before the first snorkel, then you come back to the beach for a picnic lunch between the two sites, with a sun shelter set up for you. Snorkeling equipment is provided—mask, fins, snorkel—so you don't pack your own. Your guide takes photos throughout the day and you get copies. The second site changes based on tide and weather: Oyster Stacks or Lakeside, whichever the guide judges will give you the better conditions on the day you go.
Ningaloo Marine Park sits inside Cape Range National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage area. The reef runs close to shore here, which is why the land-based entry works—you don't need a boat to reach the coral and the fish. Bring reef-safe sunscreen if you have your own; your guide carries extra drinking water for top-ups during the day.
