The Giant Swing at Skypark Cairns is Australia's only multi-person swing where riders control their own release, launching solo, in pairs or groups of three at 120km/h in 3.5 seconds. Located 20 minutes north of Cairns in the Smithfield rainforest, the swing overlooks the Great Barrier Reef and runs alongside the AJ Hackett Bungy Tower. Transfers from Cairns are included. You choose whether to add a photo and video package capturing the ride from every angle. Children from age 6 are welcome, and weight restrictions apply for safety.

The experience

At Skypark Cairns, you step into a harness, decide who rides with you (nobody, one person, or two), and pull the cord when you're ready. That's the moment the swing launches you out over the rainforest canopy at 120km/h, the Great Barrier Reef spreading across the horizon in front of you as you swing back. This is the only swing in Australia where the rider controls the release, and the only one that takes groups of up to three people at once. The whole arc takes 3.5 seconds.

The site sits 20 minutes north of Cairns CBD in the Smithfield rainforest, next to the AJ Hackett Bungy Tower. Transfers from Cairns City and the Northern Beaches are included in your booking, so you don't arrange transport separately. The experience runs about two hours from start to finish. If you want the moment captured, you can add a photo and video package at checkout. The swing is filmed from multiple angles so you have the full arc recorded.

Weight and age requirements exist for safety: solo riders need to weigh at least 55kg and no more than 150kg. Groups of two or three have a combined maximum of 200kg. Children can ride from age 6 if they weigh at least 25kg and fit safely into the harness. The site is wheelchair accessible, and service animals are welcome. Pregnant travelers are advised not to ride.

Transfers from Cairns City and the Northern Beaches are included, so transport is handled. The photo and video package is optional and added at checkout. Without it, you get the swing ride itself. A Rainforest Bar and Café is on-site if you want food or drinks after.

Solo riders must weigh between 55kg and 150kg. Groups of two or three people can ride together as long as the combined weight doesn't exceed 200kg. Children can ride from age 6 if they weigh at least 25kg and fit safely into the harness.
