The experience

The tour starts at the BBQ shelter on the property, 6 kilometres from Agnes Water town. Mike meets you there and walks you through the family history of BushTracks before leading a gentle stroll along the boardwalk. As you move through the scrub, he shares how Aboriginal people used native plants for food and medicine, explains the role of mosaic burns in land management, and points out the habitats where native wildlife lives. You're invited to taste and feel the plants as you go: many guests spot native animals in their natural surroundings during this part of the walk.

At 10:30 you head back at your own pace, which gives photographers time to capture images and lets everyone soak in the sounds of the bush. Mike prepares morning tea while you're walking, and at 10:45 you gather to eat and listen to bird calls and rustling leaves. Before the tour ends, you'll look into an observation hive to watch native bees at work. If you want to stay longer, you can have lunch in the BBQ shelter and watch the birdlife on the property.

Is this one for you?The tour is shared and led by Mike throughout, so you're learning from someone who knows the bush intimately rather than exploring on your own. This suits anyone who wants to understand how native plants were actually used and why the landscape looks the way it does, rather than just walking through it.
