The flight gets you there first—you leave Kununurra in an air-conditioned plane with a pilot who narrates the route over the PA system or through personal headsets, passing over Lake Argyle, the Ord River Irrigation Area, the Carr Boyd and Osmand Ranges, and the Argyle Diamond Mine on the way in. The plane lands at Purnululu National Park, where a 4WD bus transfers you to the start of the walk.

The Domes Walk is a moderate 3km guided walk through the heart of what makes the park famous—the eroded towers striped in black and orange that rise like a hive. Your guide takes you into Cathedral Gorge next, where you walk the bed of Piccaninny Creek (which flows as a waterfall only during the monsoon season). Lunch happens at Cathedral Gorge, and the park's entry fees are already paid. You get cold bottled water, tea or coffee, and sandalwood-scented refresher towels throughout the day.

The return flight retraces the route back to Kununurra, giving you a second view of the Argyle Diamond Mine from the air—the rare pink diamonds mined there are visible from above. The whole day runs about eight hours from pickup to drop-off at your hotel.
