The experience

The route starts in central Adelaide and follows designated bike lanes and trails the whole way, so you don't need advanced riding skills. Just a basic level of bike competence and moderate fitness. The first stretch takes you through the Riverbank Precinct, where you'll see the Festival Centre, Elder Park and the newly completed Riverbank Bridge that connects Adelaide Oval to the city. From there, the River Torrens Linear Park Trail opens up: a quiet run through parks, wetlands and an 1800s cemetery, with the landscape shifting as you approach the coast and start catching ocean breezes.

At Henley Beach, the group stops for morning tea (tea, coffee or juice with a choice of savory roll or sweet dessert), and you get insider tips from your guide about the area. Henley is where locals go to relax. There's a jetty to walk and occasional pods of dolphins visit the foreshore. The final leg follows a dedicated coastal cycle path with views toward the Fleurieu Peninsula, passing beach houses and sailing clubs before you reach Glenelg. The tour ends at approximately 1:00–1:30pm at the Marina Pier complex and Glenelg Foreshore.

You're free to explore Glenelg after the ride (swim, shop on Jetty Road, visit museums or grab an ice cream), and return to the city on your own schedule using the included tram ticket. The bikes are collected at the end, so you carry nothing back.

Is this one for you?The live English-speaking guide leads the commentary throughout, so you follow the tour's pace and stories as you ride. This works well if you want to learn about Adelaide's neighborhoods and local culture as you travel, rather than cycling independently and figuring out the route yourself.
