The Experience

We rolled out from the cruise port in Aruba with the sun already warming up the dash — you could smell salt even before we left the parking lot. The air smelled dusty-sweet there, almost metallic from the old gold mill walls. At one point we just sat on the hood watching pelicans dive-bombing for fish way out past the breakers. Didn’t expect to feel so free with just a rental Jeep and an island map scrawled with someone else’s favorite places.
