The experience

The ride starts in a working Patagonian ranch on open steppe, then follows mountain bike trails that descend toward the coast. You pedal along the southern face of Cerro Avanzada, mostly on controlled downhill paths, stopping to take in views over the Golfo Nuevo and learn about the area's geology and plant life. The guide interprets what you see as you go, so the landscape becomes readable instead of just scenery.

The destination is a viewpoint in the Punta Loma Protected Area where sea lions live and breed. You watch them from above, and the guide explains their behavior and ecology. After that, you rest on the seashore with hot drinks and water, giving your legs a break before the ride ends. The whole outing covers only 10 kilometers, so it is low-demand even though you are pedaling downhill most of the way.

Bikes and helmets are provided, along with personal accident insurance. Pickup is included, so you do not arrange transport to the ranch. The guide speaks your language (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or one of several others), and the minimum age is 14. Note that entry to the Lobería Punta Loma Protected Area is not included in the price, so budget for that separately if you want to enter the reserve itself rather than viewing from the public viewpoint.
