Navigate class II rapids, then see the valley from 1400 meters up

This activity combines river rafting and zipline in Mendoza's Potrerillos Valley, where you navigate moderate rapids on the Mendoza River with a professional guide, then fly across a 1400-meter zipline over the Cordillera del Plata. Hotel pickup from central Mendoza is included, and you can choose between the full adventure (10 hours) or the classic rafting option (6 hours, available morning or afternoon). Minimum age is 10; groups must have at least 2 people.

The Experience

The day starts with pickup from your Mendoza hotel at 8:30 am (or 1 pm for the afternoon rafting option), then a drive to the base camp on the Mendoza River. A safety briefing covers the equipment you'll use before you push off into class II rapids—moderate current and waves, nothing extreme, but enough to keep the paddle moving. The guide leads the raft through about an hour of river, and you're doing the work: steering, timing your strokes with the group, reading the water ahead.

If you choose the Rafting & Zip Line Adventure option, the river is only the first half. After the rapids, you walk to the zipline platform and clip into a 1400-meter run that crosses the Potrerillos Valley. The angle gives you a view of the Cordillera del Plata and the valley floor that you can't get from the ground—the landscape spreads out below as you move across the line. The full adventure runs about 10 hours from pickup to drop-off. The Mendoza River Rafting Classic option skips the zipline and returns you to your hotel in roughly 6 hours, and it's available in the morning or afternoon depending on which departure suits your schedule.

An air-conditioned vehicle brings you back to Mendoza after the activities end. The guide speaks English, Spanish, or Portuguese depending on your group. Food and drinks are not included, so plan accordingly if you're doing the longer day.

Is this one for you?Choose the Rafting & Zip Line Adventure if you want both the river and the aerial view in one day—the full 10-hour experience packs two different angles on the landscape. Pick the Mendoza River Rafting Classic if you prefer just the rapids and want to finish in 6 hours, or if the afternoon departure at 1 pm works better with your schedule.

Top questions

What are class II rapids like, and will I need rafting experience?

Class II rapids are moderate—moving water with small waves and straightforward obstacles that a guide can navigate with a group of paddlers working together. No prior experience is needed; the guide gives a safety talk and equipment instruction before you launch, and the activity suits all fitness levels.

Can I do just the rafting without the zipline?

Yes. The Mendoza River Rafting Classic option includes only the river portion, about an hour of class II and III rapids, and takes roughly 6 hours total. It's available in the morning or afternoon, so you can pick the time that fits your schedule.

What's included in the pickup, and which hotels does it cover?

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included from selected hotels in central Mendoza; the operator confirms your location when you book. The air-conditioned vehicle collects you in the morning (8:30 am for the full adventure, or 1 pm for the afternoon rafting option) and returns you after the activities finish.

How high is the 1400-meter zipline, and what will I see?

The zipline spans 1400 meters across the Potrerillos Valley, giving you a view of the valley floor and the Cordillera del Plata mountains from above. It's part of the Rafting & Zip Line Adventure option only; the classic rafting option does not include it.

Is there an age limit, and can children do this activity?

The minimum age is 10 years old. The activity suits all fitness levels, though a minimum of 2 people per booking is required.

What should I bring, and are meals provided?

Bring water, sunscreen, and a change of clothes; the guide and equipment are provided. Food and drinks are not included, so pack snacks or plan to eat before or after the activity.
