The experience
This is not a tour that rushes through stops. You're hiking with people born and raised in these mountains, and the route follows trails that don't appear on maps: the ones locals actually use. The 12km walk stays inside a protected natural reserve, moving through native forest alongside the river until you reach a 13-meter waterfall. Along the way, your guide talks about the biodiversity, the history of the people who lived here, and the everyday culture of the region, woven into the rhythm of walking rather than delivered as a speech.
The group stays small, maximum eight people, which means the pace bends to fit everyone. You'll stop to rest by the river, share homemade bread, pastries, fruit, cold cuts, and preserves, and spend time drinking mate and talking as a group. There's room to take photos, to sit quietly, to ask questions. The hike includes a possible river crossing, so wear shoes that can handle water. The guide reads the conditions and decides whether to cross or find another way.
You'll start from Salsipuedes, a small town in the Sierras. Bus tickets from Córdoba Capital to Salsipuedes are included, and the guide will meet you at the Salsipuedes terminal. The hike ends at a hostel about 20 minutes on foot from the city center, so you'll need to arrange your own way back to Córdoba or walk down if you prefer.
