The experience
You start at 9am from your Ushuaia accommodation in a modern air-conditioned 4x4. The first stop is Laguna Victoria, an ancestral site where the Yámana people navigated these waters centuries ago. You'll have a regional breakfast here before heading toward the coast. The real draw comes at Puerto Almanza, a working fishing village where lunch is the Centolla Fueguina (Fuegian king crab), served in one of the region's warmest restaurants with unobstructed views across the Beagle Channel toward Puerto Williams, Chile. This is where the crustacean is actually raised, and the meal sits at the heart of the day.
After lunch, you walk the spider crab route: a forest path that descends to the shoreline where the Centolla grounds meet the sea. The guide explains the local fishing methods and crab traps used in these waters. Then comes the transition: you leave Puerto Almanza and head inland to Haruwen Winter Center, where the final two hours belong to snow. You'll walk in snowshoes for twenty minutes through the winter landscape, then take a thirty-minute snowmobile ride. The whole experience runs about seven hours door to door, with the 4x4 handling the rough terrain so you don't have to.
The three-course menu is fixed: you choose your Centolla preparation (whole, with lard, or the day's fishing special) when you book, and everything moves at a pace that lets you absorb each place without rushing. Breakfast, lunch, snowshoes, snowmobile, and the drive back to your hotel are all included. You bring only warm layers and a camera.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (2 to 11 years); Infant (under 2): free.
What is Laguna Victoria and why do we stop there?
Laguna Victoria is an ancestral Yámana site where the indigenous canoeists who inhabited Ushuaia's coasts once navigated. You have breakfast there with regional recipes before heading to Puerto Almanza.
What exactly is Centolla and where does it come from?
Centolla is the Fuegian king crab, a large crustacean native to the Beagle Channel. Puerto Almanza is a fishing village where the crab is caught and raised. You eat it at lunch overlooking the channel where it's born.
Do I need experience with snowmobiles or snowshoes?
No. The snowshoe walk lasts twenty minutes and requires no prior experience. The snowmobile ride is thirty minutes and the operator handles the machine. Both happen at Haruwen Winter Center after lunch.
How does the 4x4 work if I don't have a rental car?
Hotel pickup from Ushuaia is included, and the tour uses modern 4x4 units for the whole day. The vehicle handles the rough terrain through the valleys and to Puerto Almanza, so you don't need your own transport.
What's the difference between the Centolla options at lunch?
You choose your preparation when you book: whole Centolla, Centolla a lard (with fat), or Beagle Channel Day Fishing (the catch of the day). All three come as part of the three-course menu.
