The experience
The tour begins with pickup from your hotel or meeting point and heads six kilometers to El Divisadero, a rural area where traditional ways still shape daily life. From there you move to Solín Terraza Winery, where the guide walks you through how artisan winemaking is done (the care that goes into each step) before moving to the tasting itself. The wines you taste are made on a smaller scale than the big operations elsewhere in Argentina, and the guide explains what sets them apart.
Lunch happens at Finca La Rinconada, on its exclusive terraces overlooking the landscape. The menu changes with the season but includes regional dishes: empanadas with homemade dough and tomato sauce, locro or casserole, and a homemade cayote with walnuts from the estate. Each course pairs with local artisan wines. Between the winery and lunch, you stop at Mirador de Cafayate, a scenic overlook where you can photograph the entire Calchaquí Valley spread out below.
The terrain is rural and mountainous, so wear comfortable shoes that grip natural ground, light clothing, a hat, sunglasses and sun protection. The guide speaks Spanish. After lunch and the return to your hotel or meeting point, you'll have most of the afternoon left.
