What’s included

Your journey includes private one-way transport by air-conditioned car with an English-speaking driver who offers tips along the way, all fuel costs, tolls, parking fees covered, bottled water for the ride, plus hotel pickup and drop-off wherever you choose in Hue or Hoi An (or Da Nang).

The plan was to leave Hue early but, of course, I managed to spill coffee on my shirt right before the driver arrived. Our driver, Minh, just grinned and waved off my apologies—he’d probably seen worse. The car was spotless and cool inside (thank god), and Minh spoke English way better than I expected. He asked if we wanted to tweak the route a bit—apparently you can stop wherever along the way. I liked that. We set off for the Golden Bridge but didn’t rush; there’s this sense that you’re not on anyone’s clock but your own.

We wound up the Hai Van Pass as clouds started rolling in—those low ones that make everything look kind of mysterious. Minh pulled over at a random curve so we could take photos; he pointed out an old French bunker half-hidden in the grass. The air smelled like wet stone and seaweed, which sounds weird but felt right for that spot. It’s one of those roads where you keep wanting to look out the window instead of at your phone. At Lang Co Beach, we stopped for noodles at a roadside place where nobody seemed in a hurry. The cook laughed when I tried to order in Vietnamese—probably butchered it—and handed me something spicy that cleared my sinuses instantly.

Getting up to Ba Na Hills for the Golden Bridge took longer than I thought (the cable car is kind of its own adventure), but seeing those giant stone hands holding up the bridge is actually surreal in person—less shiny than in photos, more dreamlike somehow. There were crowds, sure, but Minh knew a quieter corner where we could just stand and watch mist drift over the valley below. I still think about that view when things get noisy back home.
