You’ll feel your pulse jump as you race through loops and twists high above Las Vegas on the Big Apple Coaster, then catch your breath with classic games at The Big Apple Arcade. Includes your ride ticket and all fees—just show up ready for a rush. That first drop will stick with you long after.
I didn’t actually think I’d scream — but there it was, echoing somewhere above the Strip as we hit that first 203-foot drop on the Big Apple Coaster at New York-New York. You can see the red track winding around the fake skyline from the street, but being up there is a whole different thing. Our little group kept joking in line, but I could feel my palms getting sweaty. The coaster takes off faster than I expected, and when it flips into that wild heartline twist (our guide called it “the world’s first,” which feels about right), everything goes sideways for a second — you lose track of where the ground is. Wind in your face, neon everywhere, and someone behind me yelling “oh my god” in Spanish. I still think about that view of Las Vegas just before the big dive.
Afterwards, we stumbled out laughing — or maybe a bit shaky — and wandered straight into The Big Apple Arcade. It smells like popcorn and old tokens, honestly kind of comforting after all that adrenaline. There were some kids playing air hockey way too seriously, and I tried one of those claw machines (still impossible). We ended up hanging around longer than planned, just letting our nerves settle down. One of the staff told us to check out Village Street for some food; it’s got these brownstones and fake trees that almost make you forget you’re in Nevada for a minute. Not sure if it’s authentic New York, but it’s fun to pretend.
The whole thing is over quicker than you expect — especially the ride — but it sticks with you. My friend Li said her legs were still shaking an hour later. If you’re looking for something loud and fast to break up your Vegas trip (and you meet the height requirement), this is worth it just for that moment when your stomach drops and everything else disappears.
