Summary

Red Dune Adventure & Traditional Arabian Experiences

You’ll ride over Dubai’s famous red dunes in a 4x4, try camel riding like locals have done for centuries, and catch sunset views you won’t forget. There’s sandboarding if you’re up for it, plus live dance shows and a big BBQ dinner under desert stars—all with private pickup from your door.

experience

What’s the experience like?

The first thing that hit me was the crunch of red sand under my shoes as we stepped out near Al Marmoom. Our driver—Ali, who grew up in Sharjah—let some air out of the tires before we took off across the dunes. The 4x4 bounced and slid over the crests; I caught myself laughing out loud more than once. The wind carried a hint of cardamom from somewhere nearby—maybe someone brewing Arabic coffee at a camp.

We made a quick stop at the camel racing club. It’s not just for show; these camels are serious business here. Some wore little colored blankets, and Ali told us one had sold for more than a new car last year. After snapping a few photos (the morning light is best), we headed to the next part: camel riding. It’s slower than you’d think—gentle swaying, with the city skyline way off in the haze behind us.

Later on, I tried sandboarding for the first time—honestly, it’s trickier than it looks but good fun if you don’t mind getting sand everywhere. By sunset, everyone was grabbing their phones for photos; the sky turned this wild orange-pink over the dunes. Back at camp, there were henna artists and trays of dates set out with tiny cups of sweet tea. The evening rolled into dance shows—belly dancing, tanura spinning—and then fire performers who got everyone cheering. Dinner was a spread of grilled kebabs and veggie dishes; I went back for seconds on the lamb skewers.
