What’s included

Your day includes use of snorkeling gear and guidance from a licensed local guide as you cruise by Grace Bay Beach and visit Iguana Island. You’ll enjoy continental breakfast with juices onboard plus fresh fruit platters before lunch—think turkey or tuna wraps, conch fritters, grilled lobster (when in season), grilled fish and plenty of chips—all while soaking up sun and stories before heading back ashore.

Hands gripping the cool rail, I watched as our captain — I think his name was Devon — tossed a chunk of pineapple to a laughing kid at the bow. Salt in the air, sun already warming my shoulders even though it was barely 9am. We’d left Providenciales behind, engine humming low, and there was this quiet between us that felt like anticipation. The water around Caicos Island is so clear you can see your own shadow dancing under the boat. Not sure why I expected more noise or chaos; instead it’s just wind, soft splash, someone opening a can of juice somewhere behind me.

We stopped first at Little Water Cay — Iguana Island, as Devon called it (he joked about them being “locals too”). Stepping off onto sand that squeaked underfoot, I tried to count how many iguanas were actually watching us from the brush. There’s this earthy smell here, mixed with seaweed and something floral I couldn’t place. Devon pointed out osprey circling overhead and some tiny birds darting through the mangroves — Bananaquits? He said their name twice but I probably still got it wrong. It’s wild how close you can get to these creatures without feeling like you’re intruding.

After that we cruised along Grace Bay Beach — honestly just seeing those empty stretches from the water makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a postcard nobody else has seen yet. We anchored near the barrier reef for snorkeling; mask on, face in the water, suddenly everything goes quiet except for your own breath and flashes of color below: parrotfish, coral fans swaying slow as dancers. My friend tried to talk through her snorkel at one point which made all of us laugh so hard we almost lost our fins.

Lunch was grilled lobster (in season) and conch fritters right there on deck — nothing fancy but somehow perfect after swimming. Pineapple juice never tasted so good. Devon told us stories about storms and old shipwrecks nearby while we picked at chips and wraps. I didn’t want it to end so soon but half day goes fast out here; time moves different when you’re floating just off Turks & Caicos with nowhere else you need to be.
