You’ll circle all of Trinidad in one day—seeing San Fernando’s city views, endless coconut groves in Manzanilla, and wild beaches. Local guides share stories and hidden spots. It’s a real slice of island life you won’t get anywhere else.
We set out early from Port of Spain, the city still waking up, and headed south with our guide chatting about local cricket teams and the best doubles stands. The drive to San Fernando was smooth—windows down, you catch that salty air mixed with a hint of diesel from the maxi taxis. Up at the San Fernando Hill lookout, the view just stretches out. You can see the Gulf of Paria shimmering, and if the haze lifts, Venezuela’s outline pops up on the horizon. Our guide, Marcus, pointed out the old sugar factories and told us how the city got its name. There’s a little snack vendor near the car park selling chilled coconut water—honestly, nothing hits better in the midday heat.
After winding along the east coast, we reached Manzanilla. The road here is lined with coconut palms—mile after mile. You’ll spot roadside stalls stacked with watermelons (they’re grown right here), and sometimes you hear the distant chatter of red howler monkeys from the Bush Bush Wildlife Sanctuary. The beach itself is wild and open, not crowded at all, just the sound of the Atlantic and the wind in the trees. We stopped for a bit, toes in the sand, watching fishermen pull in their nets. If you’re lucky, you might even spot capuchin monkeys darting through the mangroves. It’s a long day, but you get a real feel for Trinidad—its people, its food, its wild corners.
The tour usually lasts a full day—about 8 to 9 hours including stops for sightseeing and breaks.
It’s not recommended for kids under 3 since it’s a long day on the road. Older children usually enjoy it.
You have a good chance of spotting monkeys in Manzanilla’s Bush Bush Sanctuary, plus lots of birds along the way.
Meals aren’t included, but there are stops where you can buy snacks or lunch from local vendors.
Hotel pickup and drop-off are covered, plus you’ll have a professional driver and guide with you all day. Just bring your curiosity—and maybe some sunscreen.
