If you're looking for a relaxed but adventurous day out from Phuket—with snorkeling, monkeys, famous Maya Bay views, and time to chill on quieter islands—this tour covers all bases. You'll get local stories from your guide and plenty of chances for photos or just soaking up island life.
We kicked off the morning with a bit of extra sleep—pick-up was later than most tours, which honestly felt like a treat. The drive to the marina was easy; our guide, Nok, chatted about the day ahead while we sipped instant coffee from the dockside café. Once on board, you could feel the buzz—families snapping photos, couples slathering on sunscreen, and that salty air mixing with engine oil as we pulled away from Phuket.
The first stop was Monkey Beach. You’ll spot dozens of macaques darting around—some bold enough to come right up to the boat railing. I’d heard they’re after snacks (don’t feed them though), but it’s wild just watching them scramble over rocks and splash in the shallows. The water here is clear enough to see tiny fish flickering by your toes if you wade in for a bit.
Bamboo Island came after lunch—a real change of pace. It’s quieter than the main beaches, with soft sand that squeaks underfoot and hardly any crowds. We snorkeled just offshore; coral patches were alive with parrotfish and little blue tangs. There’s a faint smell of seaweed when you walk along the edge, and if you listen close you’ll hear cicadas buzzing in the trees behind the beach.
Maya Bay was next—those tall cliffs really do wrap around you like a hug. The sand is almost powdery, and even though there were other boats anchored nearby, it didn’t feel packed. Our guide pointed out where scenes from “The Beach” were filmed (everyone takes a selfie here). Swimming felt unreal—the water’s so clear you can see your feet even when you’re chest-deep.
On the way back toward Phuket, we cruised past Viking Cave and made a quick stop at one more quiet beach—the captain picks based on tides and weather. By then, most folks were sun-kissed and sleepy, sipping cold drinks handed out by the crew as we watched limestone cliffs slide by in the late afternoon light.
