You’ll explore three islands off Phuket by speedboat—Racha Yai’s powdery beaches, snorkeling at Racha Noi’s Banana Bay, and relaxing on Maiton’s quiet shores. It’s an easygoing day with good food, crystal-clear water, and all transfers sorted for you.
The morning air was already warm when our minivan picked us up in Patong—earlier than I expected, but the roads were quiet at that hour. At the pier, we grabbed some snacks and cold drinks (the watermelon was especially sweet) before meeting our guide, Lek. He handed out waterproof bags and reminded us to keep sunscreen handy; the sun here doesn’t mess around.
Our first stop was Pirates Beach on Racha Yai Island. The sand felt almost unreal—so fine it stuck between my toes like powder. I could see tiny crabs darting sideways near the waterline. The sea was so clear you could spot fish even standing knee-deep. Lek pointed out a local fisherman hauling in his net just offshore—he said they come early for the best catch.
Next up: Banana Bay at Racha Noi. The boat ride over got a bit choppy, but nothing too wild. We pulled on our snorkel gear and slipped into water that looked almost glassy from above. There were schools of yellowtail and parrotfish weaving through coral patches—honestly, I lost track of time floating there. Some folks spotted a blue-spotted ray gliding by the rocks.
Lunch came just as my stomach started rumbling—a simple Thai meal at a small restaurant back on Racha Yai. Nothing fancy, but the fried rice and grilled chicken hit the spot after swimming. Afterward, we had more time to swim or just nap under the shade of some palms (I chose both). On the way to Maiton Island, our guide mentioned dolphins sometimes show up near the reef—no luck for us this time, but plenty of colorful fish made up for it.
