What’s included

Your day includes hotel or port pickup and dropoff by 4WD car with an English-speaking driver-guide; bottled cold water and fresh fruit along the way; use of snorkeling masks at Koh Ma; plus all transportation between beaches and viewpoints before returning after sunset drinks (entry fee not included).

I’ll admit, I didn’t expect to end up with sand in my shoes before noon. But that’s what happens on this Koh Phangan road trip — you just sort of let go. Our driver, Somchai, greeted us outside the hotel with a grin and cold water bottles (bless him, it was already sticky-hot). The car had that faint scent of sunscreen and sea air clinging to the seats. First stop was Thong Nai Pan Yai beach — wide and almost empty except for a few locals setting out fishing nets. I tried taking a photo but honestly the light was so bright my phone screen turned into a mirror. We just lay down for a bit instead.

Than Sadet waterfall came next. There’s this old inscription from King Rama V on a rock there — our guide pointed it out, tracing the faded Thai script with his finger like he’d done it a hundred times. The water was cold enough to make me gasp but after five minutes I didn’t want to get out. I still think about how green everything felt in that moment — even the air tasted fresh somehow. On the way back to the car I slipped on some wet stones (nothing dramatic) and Somchai laughed, then handed me another bottle of water like it was all part of the plan.

We stopped at Haad Yao for lunch — nothing fancy, just fried rice and fruit at a place where everyone seemed to know each other. The main keyword here is “day trip Koh Phangan” but honestly it felt more like being let in on someone else’s routine than ticking off sights. After that we made it up to Koh Ma for snorkeling; the mask fogged up instantly but I did see flashes of blue fish darting around coral. There’s this sandbar where you can walk across when the tide’s right — weirdly peaceful with only wind and distant music from some beach bar.

By late afternoon we had two choices: Amsterdam Bar or 420club viewpoint for sunset drinks. We picked Amsterdam Bar because Somchai said the view was “not too busy today.” He was right — just a handful of people lounging around, everyone watching the sky turn orange over the island. Someone played old reggae from their phone and nobody really talked much after that; it felt like everyone was quietly letting things settle inside themselves before heading back down in the dark.
