If you love escape rooms or want to see Zurich from a totally new angle, this game is for you. You’ll hunt for clues all over the city center, solve clever puzzles with your team, and stumble into places most tourists miss. It’s challenging, social, and honestly—way more fun than just following a map.
We kicked off right outside Hardbrücke station, phones in hand, a bit nervous but mostly excited. The Sato Code app buzzed with our first clue—something about a record store nearby. You could smell fresh bread from the bakery on the corner as we debated which way to go. This isn’t your usual sightseeing stroll; you’re constantly scanning shop windows and street signs for symbols that don’t quite fit in.
Our guide wasn’t a person, but the app itself—sending us cryptic messages and nudging us along. At one point, we found ourselves puzzling over a sticker on a lamppost while trams rattled past and locals zipped by on bikes. Some clues were tucked away inside shops (the pizzeria owner gave us a knowing smile when we asked about “the code”). The puzzles got trickier as we moved through Industriequartier toward Wipkingerpark. It’s definitely not for little kids—some riddles had us stumped for ages, but that made it even more satisfying when we finally cracked them together.
The puzzles are designed for adults and teens 13+, but if your family enjoys challenging games together, you can absolutely play as a group. Kids under 16 should be accompanied by adults.
No local knowledge needed! All clues are self-contained within the game and easy to follow with the app.
You’ll need at least two players—each person needs their own smartphone with internet access.
Charged smartphones (one per player), comfy shoes for walking, and an internet connection (hotspot works if only one of you has data).
Your tickets for the escape game (sent by SMS), access to the Sato Code app in English, Italian or German, plus support if you get stuck mid-game. Service animals are welcome and public transport is close by.
