experience

What’s the experience like?

We kicked off our ride in the heart of Valencia’s Old Town, where the streets still smell faintly of roasted coffee from early-morning cafés. Our guide, Marta, had us weaving through narrow alleys before we rolled right into the green stretch of Turia Park. It’s wild how this used to be a river—now it’s a 9-kilometer park that locals treat like their backyard. You’ll see joggers, kids on scooters, and even a guy selling horchata from a little cart near the Puente de las Flores. The air’s cooler under the trees, and you catch snippets of Spanish and Valencian as you pedal past.

The path leads you past sculptures and fountains—one of them had a couple of ducks splashing around when we passed by. It’s not all flat, but nothing too tough. Marta pointed out the old bridges overhead, each one with its own story. After about half an hour, the city’s modern side pops up ahead: the City of Arts and Sciences. The buildings look like something out of a sci-fi movie—especially the Hemisfèric, which really does look like a giant blinking eye. We stopped outside while Marta explained what goes on inside each spot, like the planetarium and the opera house. There’s this odd hush here, even with people around; maybe it’s the water or just the way the white buildings reflect the sun. We snapped some photos and just took it all in before heading back.
