What’s included

Your day includes air-conditioned vehicle transport between Seville, Zahara de la Sierra, Setenil de las Bodegas, and Ronda; pickup options; space for infants or strollers; and a local guide who’ll share stories (and maybe snack recommendations) along the way before returning to Seville in the evening.

The first thing I remember is the way Zahara de la Sierra looked from the road — white houses scattered up a steep green hill, like someone spilled sugar cubes on a mountain. We stepped out of the van and it was so quiet, just the soft clatter of someone sweeping a doorstep. Our guide Carmen waved us over to try olive oil at this tiny shop — honestly, I never thought olive oil could taste grassy, but it did. The air smelled faintly of wild herbs and something sweet I couldn’t place.

Setenil was next, and it’s hard to explain until you see it: whole houses built right under these massive rocks, like nature just decided to drop a roof for them. Carmen pointed out her favorite bakery wedged into the stone — we stopped for little almond cakes. I tried asking for them in Spanish (“pastel de almendra?”), and the baker grinned at my accent. It was cool in the shade under those cliffs, even though outside the sun was sharp and bright.

Ronda felt almost unreal after that. We walked across that famous bridge (the Puente Nuevo — you’ve probably seen photos), looking down at this dizzying gorge. There were swallows darting below us and old men playing cards in a shady square nearby. I kept thinking about how many people had crossed here before me. Lunch was late — simple tapas in a spot Carmen liked, nothing fancy but somehow perfect after all that walking. My feet were tired but my head felt kind of light, if that makes sense. I still think about that view from the bridge sometimes when things get noisy back home.
