What’s included

Your day includes travel by air-conditioned vehicle along Cap de Creus’ rugged coastline by boat, chances to see Tamariu cave if weather allows, views of Salvador Dalí’s house-museum from Port Lligat bay, plus free time (about 90 minutes) to explore Cadaqués before heading back—just bring your curiosity (and maybe an appetite for olives).

We’d barely left Roses when the coast started shifting — cliffs got sharper, the water a bit wilder. I kept smelling salt and something almost metallic in the air. Our guide, Jordi, pointed out Cala Jóncols first — he said locals come here just to swim at sunrise, but honestly I was still half-asleep and mostly staring at the color of the rocks. We passed Cap Norfeu and this weird rock called ‘the Cat’ (it really does look like a cat if you squint). There was talk about entering Tamariu cave if weather held up; we waited for Jordi’s nod and a bit of silence before ducking in. It echoed so much I almost laughed.

The boat ride along Cap de Creus felt like threading through a maze — slate cliffs everywhere, little coves tucked away, wind making my hair stick to my face. At one point, someone asked how high the headland was (672 meters, apparently — Jordi knew every number). The sea looked endless from there. On the way back we slid into Port Lligat bay. You can see Salvador Dalí’s house from the water — it’s white and kind of strange with all those egg shapes on top. I tried to say “Dalí” with a Catalan accent; Jordi grinned but didn’t correct me.

We docked at Cadaqués and had about 90 minutes to wander. The town feels like it’s paused in time — white houses everywhere, blue shutters, some random splashes of Art Nouveau colors that don’t really match but somehow work. Monday mornings there’s a market in the main square; if you’re lucky you’ll catch it and smell grilled fish mixing with coffee from one of those tiny bars (I did). Santa Maria church sits uphill — gold leaf everywhere inside, so bright it almost hurt my eyes after being outside. I got lost in an alley trying to find tapas and ended up buying olives from an old woman who didn’t speak English but smiled anyway.

I keep thinking about that light on the water near Cap de Creus — how rough it looked but also kind of inviting? Not sure I’d have come here without someone steering me through all those little details.
