If you want to try canyoning for the first time near Marbella, this is it. You’ll swim through cool pools, jump if you feel brave, and slide down rocks—all with friendly guides who know every corner of Guadalmina Canyon. It’s fun for all levels and just minutes from Costa del Sol.
It’s funny how close you can get to wild nature just outside Marbella. We met our guide in the morning—he handed out wetsuits that still smelled a bit like river water from the last group. The walk down to the Guadalmina Canyon took maybe 15 minutes, passing old olive trees and hearing birds you never notice in town.
The first pool was colder than I expected, but after a second, it felt good under the sun. Our guide (he grew up in Malaga) showed us how to slide down smooth rocks—like a natural water park but quieter, just the sound of splashing and someone laughing every time they hit the water. The jumps looked high at first (some up to 7 meters), but nobody pushed you; everything’s optional. I watched a couple of kids do it before I tried my first one—my heart was pounding for a second, then I was grinning like an idiot.
We spent about three hours moving through narrow gorges, swimming in clear pools, and rappelling down waterfalls (the biggest drop was around 12 meters). There were tiny fish darting around our feet in some spots. At one point we stopped for snacks—just sitting on warm rocks with wet hair, munching on fruit and chocolate bars while someone’s GoPro beeped quietly nearby. On the way back to the car, my arms felt heavy but in a good way.
Yes! Most people on our trip were new to canyoning. Jumps are optional and guides explain everything step by step.
You just need a swimsuit and towel—wetsuit, helmet, socks, snacks, and photos are all provided.
The whole experience lasts about 3-4 hours including walking time to and from the canyon.
The tour isn’t recommended for those with poor cardiovascular health but is suitable for most fitness levels. Small children can join if they’re comfortable in water.
Your wetsuit (5mm), neoprene socks, harness, helmet—all gear is included so you don’t have to worry about anything extra. Guides are ICOpro certified (the only ones in Spain), plus you get insurance coverage during the activity. They’ll send you digital photos and videos after too! Snacks are provided mid-tour when everyone needs a break.
