You’ll trade city noise for sunrise silence on this private Jeddah desert safari. Sip Arabic coffee at dawn, try dune bashing and quad biking, and meet camels up close—an easygoing adventure that feels worlds away from daily life.
It’s still dark when we leave the city behind—just a few streetlights flickering as our 4x4 heads out toward the open desert. The air feels cooler than I expected, almost crisp, and there’s this quiet hum from the tires rolling over sand. Our driver, Khalid, chats softly about his childhood here and points out how the stars seem brighter away from Jeddah’s glow.
We pull up to a small camp just as the sky starts to shift from deep blue to pale orange. Someone hands me a tiny cup of cardamom-scented Arabic coffee—honestly, it’s the best way to wake up. There’s a gentle smell of sand and something sweet in the air; maybe dates? We climb a dune for photos while the sun peeks over the horizon. I can hear distant camel grunts and laughter from another group trying on traditional thobes for photos.
The real fun kicks in with dune bashing. Khalid grins before gunning it up a steep ridge—the car tilts so far I grab the seat in front of me, heart pounding but laughing anyway. Afterward, we stop at a local camel farm where you can feed or just watch these gentle giants chewing their breakfast. Then it’s time for quad bikes: an hour zipping across open sand and rocky patches, no set path, just following your own tracks under that wide morning sky. By the end, my shoes are full of sand and my phone’s packed with photos I know I’ll show off later.
Kids can join if they sit with an adult during dune bashing and quad biking. It’s not recommended for infants or those with health concerns.
Wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes—you’ll get sandy! Light layers are good since mornings can be cool but it warms up fast.
Absolutely! There are plenty of photo stops on dunes and at the camel farm. You’ll also get to try on Arabic costumes for pictures.
Your ride includes hotel pickup in a 4x4, an experienced English or Arabic-speaking guide, water and soft drinks, an hour of quad biking, dune bashing session, a visit to a local camel farm, and time for photos (including traditional costume shots). All you need is your sense of adventure!
