You’ll get to walk through legendary Bran Castle, stroll medieval Brasov’s colorful streets, and enjoy mountain views—all in one easy day trip from Sibiu. It’s perfect if you want history, legends, and some free time to explore on your own.
Fog still lingered over Sibiu as we piled into the van, coffee in hand, heading out toward Bran Castle. The Carpathians peeked through the morning mist—honestly, it felt like we were driving straight into a storybook. Our guide, Andrei, kept us entertained with tales of Vlad the Impaler and pointed out tiny villages tucked into the hillsides. When we reached Bran, the air was crisp and you could smell chimney smoke from nearby houses. The castle itself looked almost unreal perched above us—gray stone, narrow staircases, and creaky wooden floors that made every step echo. I caught myself peeking around corners half-expecting Dracula himself to show up.
The drive to Brasov took just under an hour but felt shorter with all the mountain views rolling past. Once in town, Andrei led us through cobbled streets lined with pastel buildings—he called it Kronstadt, its old German name. We squeezed down Rope Street (it’s barely wider than my shoulders), ducked into the Black Church to see its huge organ pipes, and paused at Council Square where kids chased pigeons around the fountain. There was a faint smell of pretzels from a street cart nearby. After our walking tour wrapped up at the White Tower, we had some free time. I grabbed a quick lunch at a café called La Republique and just people-watched for a bit before heading back to Sibiu as dusk settled in.
Yes! Kids can join and there are options for prams or strollers. Just note there are some stairs at Bran Castle.
You’ll get about an hour after the walking tour—plenty for lunch or exploring on your own.
No meals are included, but there are plenty of cafés and bakeries in Brasov where you can grab something tasty during your free time.
Your day includes transport from Sibiu in an air-conditioned van or car, a friendly English-speaking guide for the Brasov city tour, plus a handy map of Romania to help you follow along. All ages welcome—just let us know if you need special seats for little ones!
