What’s included

Your day includes pickup and return transfers from central Queenstown, all safety equipment like helmets and gloves (plus rain jackets if it gets wet), a friendly local guide who rides with you from start to finish on purpose-built tracks just outside town—and you’ll get complimentary photos before heading back into town together.

We were already laughing before we even got our helmets on. The place is just five minutes out of Queenstown but it felt like a different world — mud splashes everywhere, the smell of wet grass, and those little 50cc quad bikes lined up for the kids. Our guide, Sam, handed out gloves and goggles (my daughter tried hers on upside down — she’s six and takes her time with new things). Parents get their own bigger quads, so you’re not just watching from the sidelines. I’ll admit I was more nervous than her.

The safety briefing was quick but detailed — Sam made sure even my son (who’s eight and loves to interrupt) understood how to stop or slow down. The track looked simple at first but then you spot little hills and puddles tucked around corners. We started slow. My wife kept glancing back at me like, “Are you sure about this?” but after the first lap the kids were grinning under their helmets. There’s something about seeing your child take a turn on their own quad that makes you weirdly proud — and slightly terrified.

Halfway through, it started drizzling — classic Queenstown weather, really — so they handed out rain jackets. The sound of engines mixed with squeals from the kids as they hit another bump. Sam kept riding alongside us, adjusting the pace so nobody felt rushed or left behind (I think he secretly enjoyed watching parents try to keep up). By the end we were covered in mud and I hadn’t thought about my phone once. Looking at the photos afterwards, my daughter’s hair stuck out in every direction under her helmet. She still talks about that day whenever she sees a bike now.
