If you want real mountain views without fighting crowds, this private Kahu Hill tour is for you. You’ll get picked up at your hotel, ride up with a local guide, and enjoy peaceful moments above Pokhara with Annapurna and Machhapuchhre right in front of you.
The air felt cool and fresh when we left Lakeside early, the kind of morning that wakes you up before your coffee does. Our driver was right on time—no fuss, just a quick greeting and off we went. The drive up to Kahu Hill took about 40 minutes, winding through sleepy neighborhoods where shopkeepers were just starting to sweep their doorways. You could smell wood smoke and hear the odd rooster crowing somewhere behind the houses.
At the top, it’s quiet—almost oddly so compared to the bustle down by Phewa Lake. Our guide pointed out Machhapuchhre first; its sharp peak really does look like a fishtail from here. Annapurna South and Dhaulagiri stood behind layers of green hills, with Pokhara city spread out below like a patchwork quilt. I noticed a local vendor selling sweet chai near the viewpoint; it’s not fancy, but sipping something warm while watching the sun hit those snowy peaks felt just right. We had plenty of space for photos—no crowds jostling for the best spot—and our guide shared little stories about each mountain as we snapped away.
It’s an easy trip since most of it’s by car, but if anyone has serious health issues or trouble walking short distances, it might not be ideal.
Usually around sunrise for the best light on the mountains—your exact pickup time depends on your hotel location.
Cameras are totally fine! For drones, check local rules first—some areas have restrictions.
You’ll get picked up and dropped off at your hotel in Lakeside Pokhara by private car. There’s a friendly driver, a knowledgeable local guide, and bottled water for everyone. It’s a private trip—just your group, no strangers tagging along.
