What’s included

Your hotel pickup and drop-off are sorted, plus transport in an air-conditioned vehicle. There’s a driver-guide all day and a local expert at Ait Ben Haddou. If you need an infant seat or have special food needs (like vegetarian), just let us know when booking.

The driver showed up right on time—still dark outside, a bit chilly even in June. We set off before the city woke up, winding through the Atlas Mountains as the sun crept over the peaks. The Tizi-n-Tichka Pass is no joke; hairpin turns, trucks loaded with watermelons crawling uphill, and every now and then, we’d pull over for photos. The air smelled like wild thyme after last night’s rain. Our guide pointed out Berber villages tucked into the hillsides—easy to miss if you’re not looking.

By noon, we rolled into Ait Ben Haddou. The place feels like a movie set because, well, it is—our guide rattled off films like “Gladiator” and “Game of Thrones.” You can wander the old mudbrick alleys and climb up to the granary for a view that’s all ochre walls and palm trees. Lunch is on your own; we picked a spot called Café Restaurant Azafrane (the tagine was solid). After eating, our local guide met us by the main gate and led us through quiet corners most tourists skip—he even knew which doors had the best painted knockers.

Ouarzazate is just under an hour away. The drive’s flat but you’ll see goats everywhere. Kasbah Tawrirt sits right in town—a maze of rooms with faded murals and creaky wooden doors. There’s a film studio nearby (we just passed by), but honestly, wandering the kasbah felt more real than any movie set. We made it back to Marrakech around 7pm—tired but glad we didn’t try to squeeze this into a group tour.
