The Experience
You leave Marrakech early in the morning and drive about an hour into the mountains, arriving in Imlil by mid-morning. After settling into a guesthouse, you trek through nearby villages like Tagadirt or Tacheddirt, walking past terraced fields and mountain paths while locals go about their day. That evening you eat dinner with a Berber family or at the guesthouse, and the rhythm of the mountains replaces the noise of the city.
Day two is the longer trek. You climb into the Azzaden Valley, passing orchards, waterfalls and a string of villages where Berber communities live. By afternoon you reach a more remote mountain lodge deeper in the valley, where you spend the night and have dinner with a view of the peaks. The second day is where the walking adds up, but the guide adjusts the pace and distance depending on which fitness level you chose at booking.
On the final morning you hike down through scenic trails back toward the valley, stopping in a village for lunch and mint tea with local hosts before the drive back to Marrakech by early evening. All three days include breakfast, lunch and dinner; a mule carries your bag so you walk without the weight; and the guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French and several other languages.
What’s included
- Three days of accommodation in mountain guesthouses and a Berber village setting.
- all breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- a mule to carry your bags throughout the trek.
- private transport to and from your Marrakech hotel.
- and a guide who speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French and additional languages.

What's the difference between the three fitness levels on this trek?
The first option includes 4–5 hours of walking each day; the second includes 2–4 hours daily; the third involves very little walking and uses mule travel to reach the villages instead. All three include stays with Berber families and the same meals and accommodation.
Do I need trekking experience to book this?
No. The trek is suitable for all physical fitness levels, and you choose which version fits your comfort. The guide adjusts the pace, and a mule carries your bags so you walk without extra weight.
What happens in the Azzaden Valley on day two?
You trek deeper into the mountains, passing orchards, waterfalls and several Berber villages before reaching a remote mountain lodge where you stay overnight. The lodge has views of the peaks and you have dinner there with the chance to talk with locals about village life.
Is transport from my hotel in Marrakech included?
Yes. Pickup from your Marrakech hotel is included, as is the drive back at the end of day three. The guide meets you in the morning and returns you by early evening.
What meals are provided during the three days?
All meals are included: breakfast, lunch and dinner on each of the three days. On day two you eat with a Berber family or at the mountain lodge; on day three you have lunch and mint tea with local hosts in a village before the drive home.
What should I bring for this trek?
Walking shoes are recommended, along with sunglasses, sun cream and a camera. A mule carries your bag, so pack light. The mountains can be cool in the morning and evening even when the days are warm.
