This is your chance to ride camels across Agafay’s rocky desert, try quad biking with Atlas views in sight, and share a traditional meal under canvas—all with easy hotel pickup from Marrakech. Perfect if you want adventure without crowds or long drives.
Our driver pulled up right outside our riad just as the city was waking up—Marrakech’s streets still smelled faintly of fresh bread and mint tea. We left the city behind fast, watching the pink walls fade into rocky hills and then that wide, stony stretch of the Agafay Desert. The air felt dry but not harsh, and there was this quiet out here you don’t get in town—just the soft hum of tires on gravel and a few distant voices from shepherds moving their flocks.
First up: quad biking. I’d never tried it before, but our guide handed out helmets and gave us a quick rundown in French and English—he even joked about “Moroccan speed limits.” The ground was bumpy, dust kicking up behind us as we zipped along winding tracks with the Atlas Mountains always hovering in the distance. At one point, we stopped by a small acacia tree where a group of kids waved at us, their laughter echoing across the open space.
After shaking off the dust (literally), it was time for the camel ride. The camels were surprisingly calm; mine kept turning its head to check on me every few steps. Our guide told stories about Berber life out here, pointing to old stone wells and explaining how locals use them after rare rains. By midday, we were sharing a simple meal—fresh bread, olives, tagine—in a shaded tent while the wind rattled the canvas overhead. The whole thing felt relaxed, no rush at all.
