If you want to see Agadir beyond its beaches, this buggy tour is it. You’ll drive across real desert dunes by the sea, meet locals, sip mint tea mid-ride, and feel that mix of freedom and adventure you can’t get from just sitting by the pool.
The morning air in Agadir felt cool as we waited outside our hotel for the minibus—right on time at 8:30. The city was just waking up, shop shutters rattling open and the smell of fresh bread drifting from a corner bakery. Our driver greeted us with a quick nod and a smile before we set off through the outskirts, heading south toward Tifnit.
Once we reached the base camp, there was this low hum of engines and a bit of nervous excitement in the air. The guides handed out helmets and goggles—mine still had a bit of sand stuck in the strap from yesterday’s group. After a short safety talk (nothing too formal), we picked our buggies. I’d never driven one before but it felt surprisingly easy after a few minutes behind the wheel.
The first stretch took us right into sandy tracks lined with wild thyme and little purple flowers peeking through the dunes. You could taste salt in the breeze as we got closer to the sea. At one point, our guide Youssef waved us down for photos—the Atlantic looked endless from up there, waves rolling in with that steady hush you only get near the coast.
Halfway through, we stopped by an old fisherman’s hut for mint tea. The glasses were hot to hold and sweet enough to make you forget about any dust in your mouth. There was even a local selling peanuts from a faded blue cart—he let us try some for free while telling stories about growing up nearby.
The last leg was pure fun—up and over soft dunes, sand flying everywhere, laughter echoing behind us. Two hours went by fast. When we rolled back to base, my shoes were full of sand but I couldn’t stop grinning. The minibus was waiting to take us home, tired but happy.
Nope! Most people are first-timers here—the guides give clear instructions before you start driving.
Wear comfy clothes you don’t mind getting sandy. Closed shoes are best; sunglasses help too.
Yes—kids can ride along with adults in the buggy or quad. Just let us know their ages when booking.
The driving part is about two hours; with transfers and breaks it’s usually around three and a half hours total.
Your round-trip hotel transfer is covered—no extra taxi needed. You’ll get all safety gear (helmet and goggles), plus two hours driving either a buggy or quad with an experienced guide leading the way. There’s also a photo stop and traditional mint tea break out on the dunes included in your day.
