Summary

Three-level boat cruise to Isla Mujeres with reef snorkeling, slides, open bar and free time on North Beach

You’ll board a lively three-level boat in Cancun and cruise out to Isla Mujeres with an open bar flowing from the start. Snorkel at El Meco reef or join in dance lessons on deck, then fly down slides or bounce on the trampoline before lunch is served onboard. Enjoy two hours exploring North Beach or town before dancing your way back across turquoise water—probably still smiling.

experience

What’s the experience like?

“You’re gonna want to hold your nose for this part,” our guide shouted over the music as I eyed the slide twisting off the second level of the boat. I’d barely finished my coffee — strong and a little sweet, like everything here — when we left Cancun’s pier behind. The air was already sticky and salty, and people were laughing in that way you do when you know you’ll probably embarrass yourself soon. I didn’t expect the boat to be this big — three decks, trampoline stretched out front, bars tucked everywhere. There was a group from Monterrey next to us who started dancing before we even hit open water. I tried copying their steps but mostly just made them laugh (in a good way).

The first stop was El Meco reef for snorkeling. The water looked almost fake — so clear it felt like cheating. They handed out gear (mask still smelled faintly of rubber) and everyone who wanted slid off into the sea. I floated for a while watching flashes of silver fish dart under me; honestly, I lost track of time until someone yelled about ceviche waiting back on board. If you weren’t into snorkeling, there were dance lessons happening on deck. A woman named Marisol showed us how to move our hips properly — she had patience I don’t think I’d ever have.

After that came the trampoline and slide into open water. It’s louder than you’d think when twenty people are splashing around at once — laughter echoing off the hull, someone’s hat floating away (they got it back). Lunch was simple but good: fajitas with chicken or beef, vegetables that tasted fresh, rice that stuck together just right. The open bar meant my Coke kept getting topped up with tequila unless I watched closely.

Isla Mujeres itself is…well, it’s hard to explain if you haven’t been. We had two hours of free time; some folks went straight for North Beach (softest sand I’ve ever stepped on), others wandered into town for souvenirs or just sat under palm trees doing nothing much at all. On the way back to Cancun there was a DJ spinning reggaeton downstairs and quieter music up top if you needed a break from it all. Sunburned faces everywhere by then — including mine.
