You’ll cruise Cabo San Lucas on a private catamaran with stops at El Arco, Lovers Beach, and Divorce Beach. Expect friendly local stories from your guide—and moments that might stick with you long after you’re back on land.

experience

What’s the experience like?

Someone hands me a cold drink before I even realize I’m thirsty. There’s music playing softly—something upbeat but not too loud—and the sea air smells like salt and sunscreen. Our captain, Armando, waves us over to the rail just as we’re gliding past Lovers Beach. He starts telling this story about how the beach got its name—his English is good but he keeps switching to Spanish for the punchlines, which makes everyone laugh even if we don’t catch every word. I try to repeat “Playa del Amor” back to him and he grins, correcting my accent gently.

The boat is bigger than I expected—sixty feet feels huge when you’re out on the water—and there’s enough space that nobody’s bumping elbows. We drift closer to the Arch of Cabo San Lucas (El Arco), and suddenly everyone’s phones are out. I almost drop mine because a pelican swoops right by us, close enough that I can see the rough texture of its feathers. The rock formations look different from every angle; Armando points out one shaped like a dog (I still don’t see it). Divorce Beach comes up next—he says something about wild waves and old stories, but honestly I’m distracted by how blue everything is.

We anchor in the bay where it’s quieter except for splashes and someone shouting “¡Vamos!” as they jump in with snorkel gear. The water’s colder than I thought it’d be but clear enough that I spot these bright little fish darting around my feet. There’s a giant floating mat tied off the back—kids are tumbling all over it while some of us just lie there, sun on our faces. Lunch shows up: beef and chicken fajitas with rice and beans, tortillas still warm from somewhere below deck. The green sauce is spicy enough to make me cough (in a good way). Someone asks for another round of margaritas and nobody says no.

I didn’t expect to feel so relaxed—maybe it’s the rhythm of the boat or just being far from shore for a while. Even after we head back toward Cabo San Lucas, there’s this sense that time slowed down for a bit out there. Sometimes you need that kind of pause, you know?
