You’ll feel your pulse jump as you lift off behind Aries Water Sports’ boat in Cabo San Lucas, gliding high above Medano Beach and Land’s End with only wind and ocean below. Expect friendly local guides, a gentle dip in the Sea of Cortez if you want it, free photos to keep, and that strange hush only found way up in the sky.
I didn’t really know what to expect when we got to the Aries Water Sports dock in Cabo San Lucas — I mean, I’d seen people floating up there before, but it always looked kind of unreal. The crew was already joking around with us (one guy called my sunhat “muy elegante,” which made me laugh), and they explained everything without making it feel like a lecture. Harness on, life jacket snug, and suddenly we were sitting at the back of this 30-foot boat, feet dangling over the edge. My heart was pounding a little — not gonna lie.
Takeoff was weirdly gentle. One second we were bouncing on the deck, next thing I knew we were drifting up into this huge blue sky over Cabo. You can see all of Medano Beach curving away, little umbrellas like confetti, and then Land’s End just sort of appears under you. It’s quiet up there — except for the wind snapping at your harness straps and the distant sound of music from the beach bars. Our guide (I think his name was Luis?) waved from below and yelled something about dipping us in the water if we wanted. We said yes, obviously — toes skimming the Sea of Cortez is colder than you’d think.
The whole parasailing ride is maybe ten minutes? It feels longer though — time stretches out when you’re floating that high above everything. Coming down felt almost too soon. They snapped a few photos (which they post on Facebook later — my hair looks wild in every shot) and handed us back our flip-flops with a grin. I still think about that view sometimes when I hear seagulls or smell sunscreen; it sticks with you more than you’d expect.
