What’s included

You’ll get private transport up Mount Etna, a knowledgeable local guide (ours was full of stories), and an easy loop hike through scenic volcanic landscapes. All ages welcome—just note infants need to sit on an adult’s lap during transport.

The air up here changes quick—one minute you’re warm from the sun, the next there’s a cool breeze carrying that faint smell of ash and wild herbs. Our guide, Paolo, grew up in one of those tiny Etna villages we passed on the way up. He pointed out old stone houses with blackened walls—lava from decades ago still marks them. We stopped for a moment to watch clouds drift over the summit, the light turning gold as it got closer to evening.

Walking along the trail, you’ll notice how quiet it gets except for our footsteps crunching on old lava rock. There’s this patch where wild broom flowers push through cracks—bright yellow against all that dark stone. Paolo explained how each eruption leaves its own mark; some flows are smooth and shiny, others rough and sharp underfoot. We looped around an extinct side crater—easy walk, nothing too steep—and paused to look out over the valley below. The view stretches all the way to the sea if it’s clear.
