Summary

Three Bali waterfalls, buggy rides and a quiet lunch in Ubud

You’ll ride buggies through Ubud’s backroads with local guides, feel the spray of three different waterfalls (Goa Rang Reng, Taman Sari & Tibumana), and share lunch beside bright green rice paddies. Expect laughter, muddy shoes, and real moments you’ll want to remember long after you leave Bali.

experience

What’s the experience like?

The first thing I remember is the buggy rattling down a narrow road outside Ubud, the air thick with the smell of wet leaves. Our guide, Putu, grinned as he pointed out tiny shrines tucked between trees — I probably would’ve missed them on my own. When we reached Goa Rang Reng waterfall, it was louder than I expected. Not just water — you could hear kids laughing somewhere upstream. We had about forty minutes there. I stood under the spray for a second and realized my shirt would never dry in this humidity. Totally worth it.

Back in the buggy, everyone was a little quieter (maybe just catching their breath). Taman Sari Waterfall was next — only ten minutes away but felt like another world. The pool was cold enough to make me gasp when I jumped in. There were dragonflies everywhere, skimming the surface like they owned it. I tried to say “terima kasih” to a woman selling fruit by the entrance; she smiled politely and handed me a slice of pineapple that tasted sharper than any I’d had before.

Tibumana Waterfall was last. The steps down are no joke (someone counted 155), but it’s peaceful at the bottom — just water and green walls closing you in. If you’re lucky, there’s a quick stop at a rice field nearby; ours was muddy from last night’s rain and my shoes still haven’t quite recovered. Lunch was right at D’Carik Tibumana, overlooking those same paddies — simple food but after all that climbing it tasted pretty great. Honestly, I still think about that view sometimes when things get loud back home.
